The founder of a compostable underwear brand on gifting sustainably
Here’s what Kent’s Stacy Anderson is buying her loved ones
Stacy Anderson is the founder of Kent, a line of sustainably made underwear that’s designed to be completely compostable (that’s right, you can actually “plant” your old undies in the earth where they will naturally biodegrade). Everything in the streamlined range is made from organic Pima cotton, which makes only one per cent of the world’s cotton supply. Pima is prized for its extra-long fibres that make it softer than standard cotton. Kent’s underwear comes in two colours (black or white), and can be purchased in no-brainer 5-day and 7-day packs. Here, Anderson (who is from Toronto but now lives in L.A.) shares the gifts she’s giving for the holidays that fit with her values of sustainability, traceability and circularity.
“This is a gift set of five briefs made with ultra soft, breathable 100 per cent organic Pima cotton designed to be your go-to Monday-to-Friday underwear. One of our customers has described it as ‘like a hug from a cloud for your bum.’ These briefs will keep your body comfortable and breathing day to night. They’re vegan, plastic-free and compostable, and will return to earth as a resource (as opposed to ending up in landfill) at the end of their life, so you can literally ‘plant your pants’ when you’re done. The perfect sustainable gift idea for the minimalist or nature enthusiast on your list.”
