Pothos and Passion with Olivia Otero

Where are you based?
I'm currently based in the East Village, NYC. Originally from Chicago!

How would you describe yourself, in a sentence?
This is a hard question to answer for me. I'm a person with many passions and interests hoping to share them with the world through my eyes.

A plant, tree or flower you have in your home?
Pothos! There's nothing more I love than a plant with vines that spreads its beauty all over. Not only are they gorgeous but they remove toxins and take in all the bad and release the good – oxygen.

A moment in your life that inspired you to start Via Liv?
I can't think of just one. My experiences in all aspects of my life have inspired me to share what I've learned with others in hopes that it will inspire, educate and/or get someone to think about something that may have never crossed their mind before. Even if it's reading ingredients on the back of a product, travel somewhere new or how to start making more eco-friendly choices. I feel that we are here on this earth to help and guide others.

Where do you look for inspiration?
Everywhere! Walking around the city people watching, architecture, nature, tv/movies... I try to find beauty and inspiration in all that I do.

What does sustainability / conscious living mean to you?
Sustainability to me means being conscious and mindful in everything I do. If we thought more about the who, what, where, when and why we consume the things we do, I think we'd be in a much better place.

What is one of your go-to nature escape(s)?
Since I live in the city, I love visiting the local parks to get my nature fix. There are so many and I'm grateful to live only a couple blocks away from one. If I had to choose somewhere tropical – it'd be Miami or Bali!

What is one daily action we can take to help restore mother earth?
Follow the "three r's": reduce, reuse + recycle – and practice this everyday.

One of the best pieces of advice you've been given at the start of, or along your journey of creating your business?
Be patient and kind to yourself. It's really easy to get frustrated and compare yourself to others. Especially when you see others skyrocketing past you when you've been working just as hard. But remind yourself to be patient, consistent and kind to yourself in the process.

What is your go-to brief style (highwaist, bikini, thong)?
High-waist always makes me feel amazing and confident. I love wearing them around the house. Thongs make me feel sexy and what I love wearing when I'm out and about!
